WHAT IS A SPIRITGROUP?
A SpiritGroup is small group of people (average group size is 8) who meet weekly to connect with one another while exploring a spiritual topic or theme.
WHEN DO GROUPS MEET?
Our groups meet 10- week cycles, which launch three times a year. The dates for our 2020 cycles are:
February 2 – March 29 – Pilot Launch for potential Hosts only
April 26th – June 21 – Open to all
September 27 – November 8 – Open to all
Each 10 -week cycle includes 7 weeks of meetings, followed by a group social and service project.
Weekly meetings are 90 minutes in length and include prayer and/or meditation, exploration of a spiritual theme, and group discussion. Groups meet at various times and days of the week, as determined by the group leader.
WHERE DO GROUPS MEET?
The majority of our groups meet in the group host’s (or other group member’s) home.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?
We know you’re busy. One of the great things about SpiritGroups is that the commitment is for a limited number of weeks. Some groups continue to meet cycle after cycle, while other groups or group members take a break in between launches. Choose a group that meets and a time and/or location that is convenient for you to make it easy! When you sign-up for a group, please know that you are making a commitment to attend each session for that cycle. If you do have to miss a session, just let your group host know.
WHERE CAN I SEE A LIST OF THE AVAILABLE GROUPS?
Group offerings vary from cycle to cycle. In the weeks prior to the launch, we will add a link to this page with a map of all the open groups. (groups with space available). We also have group signups available in the church lobby for the three Sundays preceding each launch.
I DON’T SEE A GROUP IN MY AREA AND/OR PREFERRED TIME SLOT
Our groups are led by volunteers; wherever we have willing and trained hosts- that’s where are groups will be! If you don’t see a group close to you, consider hosting or co-hosting a group.
WHAT DOES A HOST DO?
We’re so glad you asked! Being a SpiritGroup host is fun and rewarding! Hosts attend a two- hour training session to give them all the information they need to know. As a new host, you can choose from a library of video curriculum. Each curriculum includes weekly discussion guides and host videos. Essentially, the host’s role is to create a safe and sacred container for connection and discussion. The other main responsibility of the host is to determine the day and time, as well as location, that your group will meet. If you’re interested in finding out more about being a host, please contact Michael Rocque via email @ email@example.com.
